Are you a maker at heart? Do you love working with technology, tinkering with electronics, and experimenting with new materials? We need you!

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our makerspace team. Our makerspace is a community-driven space where people of all ages and skill levels can come together to learn, create, and innovate. We offer a variety of workshops, classes, and events that focus on everything from 3D printing and robotics to woodworking and textiles.

As a makerspace volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work with our team of experienced makers, learn new skills, and make a positive impact in your community.

We are looking for individuals who are:

Creative and open-minded
Willing to learn and share their knowledge
Friendly and able to work well with others
Comfortable working with tools and technology
Passionate about making and creating
Available to volunteer on a regular basis

Responsibilities include:

Assisting members with equipment and tools
Teaching classes and workshops
Mentoring new members
Helping with events and projects
Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the space
Helping to maintain and organize the makerspace
Collaborating with our team to develop new programs and initiatives

In return for your time and dedication, we will provide training and access to our makerspace equipment and resources. You will also have the opportunity to develop new skills, meet new people, and be a part of a community of makers.

Pod Captain

Subject matter expert for pod

Develop and coordinate training, assessment and tracking for pod

Develop and maintain safety guidelines and training for pod

Lead or coordinate coverage for pod activities

Volunteer Recruitment Lead

Work with sponsors and other community members to identify potential volunteers

Create and invite potential volunteers to recruitment events

Advertise need for volunteers on social media (coordinate with Social Media Lead)

Transition potential volunteers to volunteer coordinator to complete registration process

Volunteer Coordination Lead

Receive potential volunteer information from Volunteer Coordinator Lead and coordinate training and background check

Review volunteer credentials with C2 Makerspace Director to determine where the volunteer will be able to assist

Once volunteer is approved, schedule them in to activities on the calendar

Maintain a list of approved volunteers

Work with C2 Makerspace Director to ensure that all events and activities are covered

Social Media and Outreach Lead

Keep C2 Website, Facebook, and Instagram accounts up to date, inviting and engaging

Maintain email list for Friends of C2

Research other ways to reach out to Friends of C2 (for example Mail Chimp, Constant Contact etc.)

Publicize events through targetd campaigns with multiple reminders and points of contact

Fundraising Lead

Work with C2 Steering Committee to ensure that funding needs are understood, and budget information is available for potential sponsors to understand financial needs and how their donations will be used

Maintain contact with current sponsors to ensure that they are kept up to date on activities at C2 Makerspace and know that their donations are used and appreciated

Identify and apply for sustaining and event/activity specific grants

Identify additional potential sponsors and work with C2 Steering Committee to approach and invite them to support C2

Provide fundraising progress reports quarterly

Safety Lead

Work with subject matter expert volunteers to develop standard safety protocols for all equipment, materials and activities

Ensure proper PPE is available and placed appropriately in the shop

Help to establish age/ability guides for various activities

Post safety rules and reminders

Work with Training Lead to set up safety specific training classes as needed

Set up and maintain incident/accident reporting

Maintain MSDS Binder

Training (currently outsourced to UWSP)

Use Pod Lead training and assessent material to create appropriate tracking and records keeping

Facilitate recognition for training completion (badges etc.)
